Hi all !

(and special greeting to Barba papa !)

First, congratulation for this excellent game !
I will buy it !

A question about linked scan.

In my last battle (v1.4.0), I used 2 light modified Titans versus CPU. One was a close combat Titan and the other a guided missile Titan.

My CC Titan was at 2 hex from a enemy titan (a Prowler).
My long range was at 16 hex from the same Prowler.
Both titans had a line of sight on the Prowler.

Before my long range titan linked his scan with my CC titan, the Hit Rolls bonus were very good. But what disappointment after !

My Hit Roll bonus were fallen to 15-20% !

I know that guided missiles below 5 hex have penality, but linked scan must just add precision and give no penalty to aim a enemy !
IMO, the explanation for penalty was the time for the missile to lock the target during course and the penalty should only apply from the launcher and not from the source of scan ! ;)

Instead of penalty, what do you think in this case to give the max bonus for range ? Or do i miss a point ?

I dont think the computer measured the distance from the nearer CC titan, but maybe that's possible?!?hmm...

Either your GM titan lost LOS with the target in which case your rolls were affected by your pilots Indirect Fire skill(you could still see the target via linked scanner), or your GM titan was moving, therefore having reduced rolls.

I wonder what the anwser really is,cos it sure is an interesting question.

cheers

i don't remember exactly but the manual said something like this: when scanners are linked a guided missle uses the distance of the linked titan (or something like that) wanna correct me here thorgrim?

EDIT: you may need more indirect fire skill it tends to help with missles and affects G.M.s more than L.R.M.s/S.R.M.s

Just checked the code.

If you are linked to a partner who is below minimum range of the target you get either your own range modifier or -10% whatever is better. So you won't be penalized being linked in any case.

There must be a different reason like indirect fire.

Thanks to have verified in the code :)

I have done another game in similar conditions and all is alright !

This was surely a loss of LOS. Sorry for the extra work ...

But again, I send you big congratulations for the rules and the tuning of bonus/malus !

Maybe the target started dodging or something? Or launched flares?
