Actually, this is how it went down.
You told me that a war between Italy and Germany was something you were willing to risk, when you intimidated Austria, and I warned you that if you did you might have ended up in a war with Italy. I told you that it would be a real war in that case. So I went out to look for allies should such a war happen, if it did not conflict with my victory conditions. Not being able to achieve my mandatory victory condition (taking Malta), I negotiated to get it. So once that happened, the treaty was signed. I did not need to take my mandatory victory condition, by force.
The rest of my victory conditions are of course secret, but not all of them require war with the allies, nor Germany.
What Japan is up to I have no idea.

"You told me that a war between Italy and Germany was something you were willing to risk,"
I would say the above statement has taken a statement of fact, and then blown it out of context. There was a possibility that if Germany tried Anschluss on Austria and failed that a war would be triggered, this did not happen Anschluss was a success. So unless Italy really wanted to take Austria and Vienna a German city,
I see no logic in the presumption that war is now imminent with Germany, no evidence whatsoever,
in fact quite the opposite Germany has just pushed forward the Axis cause and if Italy is a member of the Axis they should be pleased.
But for no reason I can put my finger on they seem to have thrown a wobbly[:)]
No matter this mod is free form so expect the unexpected, but with currently only one Axis Nation its going to be a short war.

You may think of the actions of Italy the way you wish. Once negotiations opened, and I got my wish (Malta), there was alot going for the alliance. I realize, it is not what you wanted, and not historical, but don´t blame me.

The Soviets are not at war with anyone. Perhaps Germany wants a deal with them?

A 8 player game gives some curious results. Of course, now Germany must search for allies elsewhere, or maybe peaceful expansion. This outcome is not so unrealistic. Actually Italy resisted the German attempts to place Germany under her sphere of influence and its support was decisive to abort a NAZI coup in Austria (1934, I think). The conservative, clerical dictatorship in Austria was closer to Italian fascism than to German national socialism. Churchill was very pro Mussolini and he was almost sorry to fight Italy in WW2. On the other side, it was Italian reversal of positions that effectivelly gave Hitler the green light for the Anchluss.

We Chinese are facing a facing a vicious Japanese assault at this very moment. We are hunkering down in our trenches and hoping this will be a long battle of attrition that maybe we can ride
out but cost the Japanese heavily. The Japanese are currently trying a flanking movement in the North where there is more open ground for their armor. We are rushing troops this area to try and stem the tide.

Japan has certainly noted the Chinese toughness. The very long war in China does not look like having a decisive end soon.
Japan has attempted to secure peace with the nations having interests in the Far East. The Germans have offered an alliance, and we are not going to accept it till the diplomatic waters are more settled. We cannot become entangled in European affairs at this time.

I suggest a restart for this game, since it´s impossible, for France and Italy, to play it with shared units off.
This 8 player game has a great potential, but it won´t work in this way.

I am playing the US and will be fine either way (restart or no). I personally feel like shared units should be on and shared recon off.

Seems like mostly everybody wants to restart so I'll concur with the majority if I can replay with the same country (China).
