Enjoyed the tutorial but the game was lagging, freeze go freeze go in 2/3 second cycle, I have a GTX650 with a 4 year old gaming rig I have no problem with Rome II.

I just played the tutorial I am assuming if it can't handle the tutorial, then it will fail on the scenarios I dropped the Graphic Settings that were default high and there was a improvement in performance might have to keep dropping until it runs.

Same issue here. I have a ASUS G20AJ four months old desktop. It plays everything I got with no issues. I have lag in cycles the same as ironduke. In all scenarios and sandbox. On all settings with everything maxed out or all as low as possible no difference. same lag no matter the settings.

I am running in win 7 compatability mode. I have 6 GB free when game is running. I run from 42 fps than it cycles to 2 fps in sandbox. The scenarios run 36 to 2 fps on their cycle. No matter what setting I use the game runs the same. All setting at low with ratio at 19:1 or set at 0 or 1:1 nothing seems to make the game play better or worse just the same. I know my pc can handle the game.

Already tried stopping the antivirus (or similar memory scanning software)?

You can also try to disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game.
You can do this by running msconfig and disabling all non-windows start-up programs and services.
A tutorial on how to do this can be found below:

I have the same lagging issue. Here's my rig:

CyberPower Computer specs
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-990X processor, 6 cores, 3.47GHz
Memory: 24 GB
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 750Ti, 2GB memory
SSD: Corsair Force Series 3 SSD 240GB
Western Digital Black HD: 2 TB
Case: Sniper Black Edition
Power Supply: Commander 1200 Watts
Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster Z, Model SB1500
Monitor: Samsung ViewSonic
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

I checked my system performance, stopped some Applications and got down to only 13 percent of my memory being used before running the game. I have these same lag issues.

My first impression is decidedly negative.

Even the smallest scenario lags and eventually freezes.

I am very disappointed.

UPDATE: Webroot was causing the problem, especially the Realtime Shield feature.

I'm getting the same problem. Freeze for a second or two every few seconds. Running 8.1. I can run all SOW civil war games with no problem and Rome II, etc. Turning down display options does not help at all. Even the smallest scenario (including the tutorial) has the same result.

This appears to be a fairly common problem occurring on different rigs with different operating systems and on machines that run other games (including SOW games) well.

Got it. Disabling Webroot eliminated the lag for me. Try it if you use Webroot.

I put the game on my sons old computer running win 7. It is a machine about eight years old and it runs Waterloo smooth. Is the lag issue possible with high end machines?

I will do more extensive testing tomorrow, but, after I went into Webroot and manipulated it to Accept the autorun and SOWWL.exe files, I was able to run Baudin's attack on Hougomont for some time with no lag problems.

I will do more extensive testing and report back.

Webroot is my AV and it has interfered with some games in the past.
