The Waterloo Sandbox Campaign

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. It is by far the most detailed game about the final battle of the War of the Seventh Coalition.

I think it is fantastic, and I'm grateful it's been added.

I have one thing that I'd like to see patched/modded- the sandbox battles within the campaign seem to favor "line of sight" battles. The forces start almost atop one another and make for a line overlap nightmare. The "seek out the enemy" battles are far more fun, so I think if the distances could be extended in the LoS battles, we wuld be in great shape.

The future for this campaign type hopefully holds things like supply routes and "march to the guns" reinforcements. It would certainly make a Waterloo battle tense to have a variable chance of either Blucher or Grouchy showing up as the battle progresses (if they were nearby on the campaign map). The hint at additional, historical maps for more of the campaign town locations is also going to help extend the lifespan of the game (which is going to be quite long for me even as is).

Also agree with above, great starting point that we have this feature available.

Will happily donate my spare kidney should this feature be upgraded to multiplayer at some point (although it's been used)

Summary 1st Timer is Absolutely loving the Sandbox campaign.

Especially like how the fatigue, morale and ammo carry over.

Longer- Ok the sandbox campaign is pretty basic, but there's enough there to give context to battles that really adds the immersion and fun for me.

Picked this up yesterday having never got past the Civil War demos. Got the hang of it enough to manage 2 divisions. It's a bit rough around the edges that I hope patches and maybe later expansions smooth (one of them is sensitivity of formations wheeling in fire fights).

Campaign wise- can't always see casualties in towns if they are still contested. So would like end of battle casualty summary. And any general improvements.

Still early day, but deployment zones or just a little more space sometimes between armies. When they deploy really close it limits strategy. And of course reinforcements joining !

Not complaints the Sandbox Campaign is what has made the game one I will spend lots of hours with- Thanks devs, betas, and anybody else who pushed the game this way.
