[:(]
Using the Wayback site to surf the old MG forums from 2001.
I was reminded of the Modern remake project for WaW.
It's like coming across a photo of your favorite ex from years ago [:(]

Steel Panthers: Age of the Rifle.. I was on that dev team as a 16-year-old kid.
God, if I knew that what I know now as far as icon and OB development (which, really, ain't much..)
Ah, those WERE the good old days of the old girl.

Yep, really good stuff, it was a blast to be on the WAW devel team as long as I was. Still like playing it!

Would a modern remake of SP still be feasible, though without much code changes?

A good question, I hope so, love this scale!

Hmm modern stuff can work by times but I'm afraid that AT-weapons (Kornet etc.) will not work with SPWAW's engine without new code[8|]... And how about using copters? More new code (I suppose)for them. And modern warfare needs more larger map size (at least wider horizontally than now) IMHO.
Just my 2 cents

Oh the good times. SP is something that needs to be redone, as 20 years later, there still isn't any game to take its place.
And hello Sami! Long time no see!

Hi all[:)] Nice to "see" you.
Yes I'm still here after 15 years joining here (sometimes I wonder why because there's so little "progress" what comes to SPWAW)[;)]...
edit:Sorry about double message

I still play the game, which is in itself amazing, couldn't get it to run until I stumbled back into the SPWAW forum one day and saw the chatter about making it work!! Thanks to all for any and all continued work on the old girl!

Hey Matt and Mike!
Doing just fine! After SPMW went bottom up, I got called in to do my national service. I liked it and applied to national college. Nowadays I am taming real life Steel Panthers in the FDF.
Good to see that many of the old farts are still around, gives hope that maybe some day...
Ilja Varha
EDIT: ...and then I see Steel Tigers mentioned! Oh joy!

I hear you on that. I went into the US Army about the same time (like an idiot..), but got out about six years ago. Wife, kids, and career now!
Good to see you again, buddy!
