In a scenario where i had no cavalry on hand, I succeeded to clear the enemy infantry around an objective, but I was notable to push away the artillery that was staying behind. I tried to fire at it and charge it, with zero result. How can infantry get rid of enemy artillery?

You have to flank it at the same time you're charging it. With the flanking unit a little more distance than the charging unit so as to keep the cannon facing the charging unit.

Artillery will automatically retreat when any enemy gets within 100 yards when it's not supported by infantry.

I've found that skirmishers are good for making artillery go away.

Use skirmishers, they are particularly useful for chasing away artillery.
