[WORKS AS DESIGNED] F-18 Decide to Refuel on their own

I order F-18's to follow a plotted course, but if they spot more than one refueling a/c aloft, they decide to refuel on their own with no orders to do so. They have plenty of fuel to complete their mission without refueling. I was able to stop this behavior by altering their doctrine but am still curious why they act this way given the fact they have plenty of fuel without refueling...

One reason I run with Refueling deactivated as a Side Doctrine.

Anybody want to bet this happens because somebody complained that the game should just know when I'm going to plot my planes out of fuel.[8D]

We'll take a look but guessing this might be it. You can control doctorine at the unit, mission and side level.

The aircraft bingo towards the tankers since these are closer to the fighters, and not their home base, in order to help you keep the fighters airborne. This is by design.

Since the tankers move around a lot, the AI calculates in 10% or 30% (can't remember exactly) fuel reserves which means the fighters Bingo earlier than against a stationary home base.

If the tankers are close to the home base (as was the case here), the fighters will bingo slightly earlier than normal. If you don't want this, make sure you have tankers closer to the fighters or turn off refuelling altogether.

Thanks!
