Slitherine and BAE Systems to start collaboration

Over the years, Slitherine has developed some of the most in-depth and well-researched wargames in the market. Combining historical accuracy, cutting edge AI and enhanced combat models, Slitherine games have always been more about what is under the hood than before the eyes.

A crucial appreciation of these efforts is now coming from experts at defense, security and aerospace multinational BAE Systems. In particular, real time wargame Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations has been chosen to start a collaboration with Slitherine and its development partners.

Developed by Warfare Sims,Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations is the next generation of wargaming. Using a 3D earth globe for each of its scenario, the game simulates sensors and weapons just like in real life, with all their strength and weaknesses. Its success has been overwhelming, so much that hundreds of scenarios have been created and shared by an ever-growing community.

Will this be a commercial product or one intended for private use? I know other simulation makers have developed military software from public games.

Great news for the dev team! A just reward for the hard work we've all seen day in/day out to develop this game to be the cutting edge of air/naval simulations. Therefore, also a very wise decision for BAE, I think.[;)]

Salute,

Mark

As a big fan and soon-to-be BAE employee I'm super excited to see where this goes.

As cool as this is and good for the business side of things I can't imagine what benefit it would have to gamers..apart from the fact that it validates the level of realism we know and love.

Good news though.

It probably means the developers have an additional source of income and since parts of the code base will probably be shared between the two versions then any improvements to the base sim for the military will probably also find their way to the gamer version, just without secret information.

But that is just my reasoning, I could be wrong.
