Callistrid vs TDV

I start a new game against TDV, this time with the german side.

Well, my first turn was awful, because I forgot to bomb the air bases (simply just forgot it), and I realize after my turn was done. Since the german T01 is the heaviest turn, I'm to lazy to restart my turn, so I let the soviet air forces unharmed.
Not a good open.

Here is my start:

T02

The southern attack against Kiev failed, due lack of panzer movement, so only 5-7 division has been circled. The northern part is weak, and the soviet troops have the opportunity to break my thin lines.

On center, elements of the 4th panzer army joined the central assault, breaking the soviet lines, and later decide to drive against Leningrad, or move against Moscow. But my units must stay close to my rail lines, what really slow any deep operations. The rest of the 4th pz army captured the empty city of Tallinn, what can be useful as port, and threat Leningrad from Estonia.

The air supplies were ineffective, only 4 drops on south, supplying the 1st panzer army. Other troops will wait the next turn with low fuel.
Bad news, I'm not familiar with german side, and I have no idea how to use the best way air supply tactics.

Your probably not going to take Leningrad.

TDV is very good and you be lucky to get close to it.

Interesting approach. I think TDV will be feeling the heat because of the sheer number of threats and the uncertainty about exactly where your armor is. This uncertainty can be a powerful weapon for the Axis player.
On the minus side though your mobile units are so spread out that the schwerpunkt may fail to break through somewhere or form a pocket for the want of one or two extra mobile divisions.

He is not a newbie and has no issue with trading troops for time.

Compliments for your presentation. Not predicting outcome, though.

BTW, believe that Soviet air best handled by air combat & defense, not airfield bombing, i.e., let the bombers help the ground troops. At least to '43.

Hi,

no para airdrop at all
no hq and airbase bomb
no extended lvov

no soviet bonus
mild winter
nonrandom weather

and there is no bombing limit what was a bold idea :)

I've lost Tallinn due my stupidity. I thought any port (even if it's damaged) works as supply source, and prevent encirclement hex flip, but the 100 % damaged port doesn't work that way. TDV slow all my operations on baltic area, just one soviet division, plus some para/sec brigade where pocketed. On center region, 5 division had been pocketed, and I hope my troops will resist the soviet counterattack.

It's hard playing with the germans... and the soviet wall of steel seems to be indestructible.

DTV break the southern pocket, and encircle my panzer spearhead. He bombed my units 10-16x times, and only a single isolated unit attack was successful to pull back my troops. It was a bold idea not to determine the maximum number of unit bombing. And as russian I always enjoy the railed cavalry unit, was triggered sending into key location and break pockets.

Most of my panzer troops stand around kiev, only 3 division had been sent into deep ukrainian plain flipping hexes, and clear the way of the 17th and 11th army.

One panzer division captured the empty city of Nikolajev and Kirovgrad, destroyed 2x3 arm and heavy industry factory. Odessa is blocked, with his full industrial area.

2. you will not get close to Leningrad

I'm playing Tdv now - he is German. Its summer 42. You have your hands very full. Not playing with bombing limits is ________(fill in the blank)!

Expect doom! I may post a few soon on my action. It a real humdinger of a war.

Moscow or Leningrad will fall, but will be a hard task. Well, I'm not experienced with germans, and I never understand the air supply tatcics, so will be hard.

I will talk with TDV, about the unit bombing, maxilalize the numbers, because it's seems 15 bomb action will be enough to beat german divisions, and I'm not curious what will happen after 30 bombing...

Since there is no Leningrad flank, my center situation is not so useless. My troops encircled 9 soviet division, but there is a weak point, where the russian can break, and delay the encirclement, and those troops stay on my way. The only good news, 7 panzer/mot division HQBU + the infantry divisions can support any attack. So the soviet troops could be in a huge danger if they stay and fight.

Around Riga, two other soviet division had been encircled, and on south another 2 inf division, and 2 air brigades.

T04 South

My crossing failed around Kiev. Next turn, my troops will cross the river, but far from Kharkov. Not good.
My troops captured Odessa this turn, but need 2-3 before will be available to use as supply source.

My armor looses are extreemly high. It's time to use infantry divisions as first wawe attack divisions, and save the armors for late time battles.

T05 Finn front

The finnish army try to encircle 5 soviet division. Next turn they will be isolated. Not bad from the finnish army.
