Windows 10

With the Windows 10 release coming tomorrow, anyone done any tests with CMANO on earlier test versions that Microsoft released? All good?

I've seen speak of graphic updates from Nvidia not being controllable, this appears to be wrong as there is an option to disable updates from 3rd parties so just remember to probably disable that so you don't have any issues.

I had tested Command v1.08 on an earlier build of Win10 (10131 IIRC) and it had a wierd startup crash issue that gave me fits. I had listened/read about issues with that build from others too (on various games and apps) so there appeared to be a general bad trend.

I tested it again with Build 10240, which is supposedly the RTM version, and it ran fine without any issues.

Any early Win10 adopters, feel free to share your experiences.

Thanks for the feedback Sunburn. Looking forward to any others experiences too, glad that your last test showed no issues. Not sure when mine will be coming through, it's reserved but internet almost non-existent here currently so might take sometime to pop through any results myself but will do when I can.

I heard there are possible graphics drivers issues in Win10 out of the box. Both AMD and Nvidia will have to have drivers ready for it.

Im running the feature complete version (released a couple of weeks ago) which is identical to the "official-release" tomorrow. Not having a single problem with it. Even old programs like Win Steel Panthers run flawlessly [:)]

Both AMD and Nvidia have drivers ready over the automatic windows update function. Both work without problems on my PCs.

Ok, on the new Windows 10, installed CMANO fresh, made sure all the .NET Frameworks installed too, added all the extras (DB images etc) and so far, no probs. I think though the Nvidia drivers for the latest release hasn't been updated though, think windows update servers under heavy strain but CMANO still working but hope to update soon probably from Nvidia itself rather if W10 takes longer.
Seems a little quicker as well. Nice.

The Windows 10 transition has been relatively painless for me. All my games seem to work (even smaller, independent ones) and those annoying 'Live Tiles' all got removed from the start menu so it looks like 7 again. The only issue I've had is an Nvidia driver update forcing Stereoscopic 3D on in games but that was soon fixed.

Although I'm clueless as to what 10 supposedly does better than 7. Very annoying UI clearly designed for mobile devices and a clunky file navigation system.

Win 8 and 10 stripped away the last vestiges of DOS from the main OS kernal. Command and every other game I have runs noticeably faster or smoother in 8 and slightly more so in 10. My benchmarking has shown this for medium to high-end modern systems.

I always come back to that within 10 minutes of win8.1 installing, I had it working exactly like win7. My wife is a Luddite and I moved her from win7 to win8.1 and she barely noticed. I locked her out of all the win8 UI and features.

Just posting a possible bug. Anyone on Windows 10 missing the degree character in the mouse datablock? I have a diamond with a question mark. File posted in tech support.
PS Just updated Nvidia drivers to the latest one that supports Windows 10. Besides the above datablock issue, performing nice.
