Channel Islands and Garrison Requs

It's January 1944. My opponent just occupied one of the Channel Islands. I no longer have any garrison requirements in France, other than the Cities.
WAD? I thought this was changed in the 1.044 patch
And if my opponent removes his unit from the Channel Islands, will the garrison requirements come back?

Are you sure that is the only place they are ashore?
What version is your opponent running? The changes came in .29

New Features and Rule Changes
1. Changes to Garrison rules:
a. When Allied units are in two garrison zones and the Axis garrison requirement goes away, it will never return, even if the Allies are no longer in two zones.
b. The two Channel Island hexes are no longer considered to be part of any garrison zone.
Playing with .44 beta and the current release I experienced garrison requirements being reduced after an invasion of Denmark, then returning when I evicted the invaders. Later they invaded 3 zones in France and the garrison requirements switched to security units for cities and did not return.
In my game, which had made the farthest to date for me, I reached the beachhead reward as the Germans, but saw the garrison requirement drop the next week. It was like this for two turns and I was trying to figure out what had happened - if it was a bug or some rule change I had missed. Instead my opponent had invaded Denmark without me noticing until he was 10 miles from the German border!
I responded appropriately, but overran his beaches sooner than I expected and consequently my units were caught too far from rail heads to effectively transit back to garrison zones. The two turns it took me to straighten that out plus one turn where a single unit lacked 1 SMP to unload via rail earlier in the game cost me a net 240 VP for the campaign. Mind you I did not strip my Atlantic Wall at any point.

I am QBall's opponent. To summarize: I am using version 1.00.48 (and I believe QBall is as well), Other than the Channel Island of Guernsey I only have units in the Northern Italy Garrison Zone. I only invaded Gursney so that I could threaten Brittany and Normandy with paradrops (as per Liquid Sky's suggestion in an AAR). However, I would not have done so if I thought it would remove the German from all garrison requirements. I thought this had been changed as per the earlier patch.
So I second QBall's questions: Is this WAD or not? If I withdraw all units from Gursney will the garrison requirements be reassert themselves?

The fact that you are also in the N Italy garrison zone I think is the key.
My guess is that the rule checking if you are in TWO garrison zones is still treating those Channel Hexes as garrison zones. That's where I'd bug hunt first.
The garrison requirement should not return if you evacuate one of the two zones. The flip side is no more garrison zone points for either side.

I will be moving my unit out of Guersney next turn but, of course, I will still control it. Will be interesting to see if this will reset the garrisoning requirement.
Regardless, this is still a bug as the Channel Islands are no longer supposed to be considered part of any garrison zone. Oh yeah, the Island was unoccupied when I took it, not sure if that makes any difference.

I've downloaded the save and have it on our bug list to figure out what's going on. Thanks for the report.
