CTD

I was checking out the different battles that had occurred during the Allied turn.
I hadn't yet made any changes to my own air directives.
In this instance I was simply looking at the losses suffered by the Allies on some supply runs to Bari.
I clicked the 'next battle' link and it crashed:

I had the details screen open to see what was getting the kills.

Was this an MP game or solo game? Can you recreate the crash.

server game
Seminole v Zephir_MatrixForum

I had looked at various air battles around the map. Noticed a significant number of Dakota losses in the overall losses screen so I was looking at the details of those battles and learned it was from flak on the way to the target. Clicked the next battle carat a and it locked up.

Didn't happen when I restarted the turn.
Only crash I've had with the latest release.

Another CTD.
This one a tad more frustrating because of the time I'd spent on the turn. I was literally done with my moves and was just capturing screenshots (with Fraps). I wasn't using any particular part of the interface at the time of the CTD (not even pressing print screen button). Just moving the mouse across the screen (not even scrolling the map!) and it crashed similar to above.
This game was a server game versus NotOneStepBack, same version as before.

Perhaps coincidental, but I think since I picked the game up in December I've only had 4 CTDs, but 3 of them under this latest version.
Because I took the screenshots I think I won't have a problem piecing my move back together, and there were only three battles in which I expect the same result, but dang it. Just going to save more often now, the minute it takes to log back in is worth not losing what has been done.

Do you play with sounds?

Yes, but just by default as my headphones are usually plugged in but I'm not wearing them.
In this instance the crash happened just while moving the mouse, not clicking any links, or even scrolling the map.
The sounds don't matter to me, so renaming the sound folder should exclude that as a possibility, right?

Yes, many reports that game is much more stable with no sounds.

I'm trying to investigate this issue, but it is really hard one as it doesn't reproduce for me.

I've had the same problem when playing with sound enabled. When I first got the game, I had no problems. I think one of the numerous upgrades "broke" it. I'm an audio/visual person. I like having the sound with the visual, so I haven't played the game much. I was thinking of buying War in the East until this problem started. Now I'm afraid to. I don't want to throw good money after bad.

Unfortunately this issue was from day 1 for both games. We made several adjustments to the sound playback which should make it more stable, but there is no 100% guarantee as it is OS/driver dependent. I'm playing with sounds and music and never had CTDs.

The good thing is that both WITW/WITE shares the same engine, so all improvements would go to both games.

The default program on my system for wave files is Media Player. Just wondering if I should try disabling it and see it that solves the problem. The files all play fine with Medial player. Is it possible that maybe the game engine has a conflict with Media Player. As I said, when I first installed the game everything was OK.

I don't think it is related with media player as such. Usually issue comes with some codec (parser/splitter).
