How about a search feature with filters?

I would love to see some sort of search feature that would enable me to filter.

For example, say it's March 1943, and I have 55 destroyers in various locations. But I want to find all the destroyers that have radar and send them to Shortland in preparation for a night raid on the American fleet at Lunga. It would be nice to be able to go into the "list all ships" window and search for "all ships with radar", or "All DD's with radar".

Other useful filters I can think of:

-All ships with AA above "x"(where "x" is a number you can define)

-All ships with ASW above "x"(where "x" is a number you can define)

-All ships with main guns of "x" or above

-All ships with cargo capacity of "x" or above

-All "x" class ships (where "x" can be TK, AP, DD, CV, CA, etc...)

-All "x" class planes(where "x" can be F, FB, LB, TB, etc...)

-All "x" class ground units(where "x" can be ENG, AA, INF, etc....)

-All ground units with a fatigue of "x" or above(where "x" can be defined)

-All ground units with a disruption of "x" or above(ditto)

-All bases with a supply level of "x" or below(where "x" can be defined)

As you can see, this would make it easier to keep track of your units, and prevent them from becoming lost in the middle of a port that has 100 ships, or 45,000 men.

Kinda complex, but it would make it easier to keep track of things.

We are currently looking for ideas like this. I'll pass this on to Tired. He is collecting them

Thanks, Kid.

I guess what I was driving at is that with the vast scope of WitP, 2x3 is going to have to give us a more elegant way of finding and giving orders to large numbers of units without resorting to UV's method of clicking on each base to give orders to units.

For instance, I would like to be able to find quickly and easily all air units with fatigue >30, and on the same screen, give them orders to rest. In this way, on my turn, I can take care of administrative stuff like this fast, and devote more time to actually thinking about what my tactical and strategic moves for this turn will be.

It currently takes me about 15-30 minutes to crank out a turn in UV in a PBEM game. The thought of how much longer it would take me to crank a WitP PBEM turn out is scary! Those of us with family obligations rarely have an hour at a time to do one turn.

There are going to have to be some sort of "one-stop shopping" pages where I can find out info on fatigue, supply, fuel....and then do something about it on that same page. When I really think about what my time is spent on in UV, it's the housekeeping that takes all the time. Any way that the developers can help us with this is going to be appreciated by those of us with limited free time at home. I find the logistics part of UV very enjoyable, but a bit too much of a click-fest to get things accomplished in a timely manner.

We are thinking along the same lines.
