Retreat losses (Artillery)

I would like to follow up MikeB's poll with another one.
I get the feeling that the loss of artillery for the side playing a defensive battle is way too high. What do you think. Decrease the amount of artillery losses due to retreats (not shatter)?
CLARIFICATION: I do understand that many artillery peices are lost due to uncontrolled retreats but an army/ corps under a regular one-hex retreat should not loose that many peices as in v3.2. Playing a defensive battle (1941 for the Russian) and 1943-45 for the germans assuming a historical development of the battle, a 1 year + defensive battle drains an army of much of its artillery sources due to retreats.
