Not sure for some reason I can't get these guys to do anything. I have them on the Hermes on Naval Attack and 30% search. Just never see them attack anything? Is there anything I've missed? The MS - 100%. They are carrier (USMC) capable on a UK platform.....
Maybe it just has been bad weather every time we try launch..... [:D]

Is anything spotted for them to attack? Does the ship have enough sorties left? Is the squadron boss any good?

I noticed that also. For some reason they never leave the deck. However place them on a airfield and they ... may... actually attack something

Carrier capable just means the planes can launch and recover from a carrier. To actually fly a mission the squadron has to be carrier trained. Resident on a carrier for a period of months if they don't come on the map already trained.
As always a screenshot would help.

Moose - I don't thing that is true - I've had non carrier trained Marine Vindicators (and escorting Buffaloes) fly off US CVs attack targets. Example was back in Apr 42 - its now Aug 42 and all my Marine DB squadrons are just carrier capable, not trained. Never bother with trying to get them carrier trained.

There is a (small) penalty for non carrier trained squadrons operating on a carrier. But they will certainly fly, as long as they are "carrier capable"
As already mentioned:
- poor detection level
- weather
- poor leadership
- lack of sorties
are well known reasons for non flying squadrons. Also, check that range is > 0
you should assign a secondary mission, like bombing some base, this way, at least you can exclude detection level as a cause

Thanks yes I will try a secondary for sure. We have been in the Marshall islands of for 3 days with lots of little targets. The weather has been terrible though. I'm guessing the carrier capable guys might not have the skill to operate in severe storms or heavy rain.......wimps!

As far as I know, the penalty is only related to Op. losses

I have had a similar problem with Vildebeasts, thet will not, for any reason, launch on missions. I tried for game-months with various missions, leaders, etc. Finally gave up and put them on 100% training. This is almost certainly a software bug in my case, anyway.

No Mr Moose, I use carrier capable aircraft all the time and they perform normally with only a very slight OP penalty.
