Edit 10/4/2015: The download link below now includes a hi-res version of an up-to-date NATO icon listing.

Per popular request, here's a quick zip download including:

[*] A numbered picture of all NATO symbols included in 1.00
[*] A PDF explaining each of the symbols.

[*] Download available HERE

Related tips and hints for unit identification when playing 2D:

[*] Consider having the unit 3D picture shown in the Hex Infobox (Menu: Options -> Infobox Counters OFF)
[*] Toggle NATO icons with Unit Icons <ctrl+i>

@Jason: perhaps sticky this post for now?

Dang! I just used the old Excel I had... Well there you go, the NATO icons are all there, but these two explanations are missing. I don't have the time to fix this now sorry, maybe later...

There's so many icons there the numbered map is a must. I had the cell# layer available so quickly put the map together. I actually took the two minutes to update the listing and send to Berto, once he can upload it to his server the above link will have a proper listing available [:)]

Could you get this in the game via maybe a menu option? like the manual or help option. Make it one document for accessing, i know it would help me, as i'm not a modern war guy.

I could probably add it as an appendix to the manual.

Would that help?

Jason, I think budd's suggestion is an excellent one. Maybe F4 summons in-game the NATO icon cheat sheet? I too am often puzzled by what the NATO icons signify.

There's also the color of the NATO symbol that represents the unit type. Blue for AA, brown for ATG, white for Transports, Yellow for Leaders, Grey for HQs, etc...

The basic twelve color codes as available in Alt Counters in the colored bar in the bottom are explained HERE.

That was one of my next questions, but I figured I'd read the manual before asking more interface questions...

Hello 76mm, I am not sure it is in the manual... That is the color coding used since the Talonsoft days, one of those things that's been around but not documented anywhere. I have to check the manual myself too. Good call.

i don't use Nato icons at all in any game i play, so if they only have Nato ones in them, i either ask for new ones to be modded or don't get the game, it's that simple [:D][;)]

Talonsoft

have them all boxed in the loft from years gone by[&o][&o][&o]
