Been a couple of years, but back in the water ... Scenario 1 Stock

Scout (Scott) vs Tanksone (Paul) using 2 day turns .....

We pick things up on Dec 13th ......

Japanese Imperial General Staff decides Yammamoto's Pearl Harbor gambit too high of risk so opts instead to strike Manila at the start of hostilities which she was forced to engage in .... Targeting the perceived future threat from the Allied pigboats .... Death to the pigboats .....

Landings for humanitarian reasons to liberate the oppressed peoples of Malaya, the Philippines, Borneo, Celebes, Moluccas and a number of islands is underway. More to follow. The Allied Adm Nimitz seems inclined to punish these freedom seeking peoples by shelling and bombing the Children's Hospital on Wake Island. Japanese forces are moving in to protect the innocent .....
The world court of opinion favors the liberators .........

Finally got sometime to update and see if we can't bring some life to this AAR. I know Scott has an AAR going on in WitW so he maybe slow to jump in here. We're now up to March 1942.

The WC and Hawaiian Islands have been pretty quiet other than the cat and mouse between IJN subs and the occasional loan ship I'm to lazy to escort. I don't think I've ever had a US BB go for refit in 1/42 without a boat load of damage.

The Central Pacific is moving about where it should be for IJ. Two outstanding notes though. CV Lex ate 3 torps on her way to Wake Is. on the 12/12/41 and went down.... wasn't the way I wanted to start things. Scott also grabbed Baker Is. and Canton. He kinda caught me flat footed.

Down to the South Pacific. IJ has pretty much occupied most of the Solomon's... what he hasn't physically occupied the row boat commandoes have taken. On a positive note I was able to bag 3 AMC's that were operating between Fuji and Noumea. That makes 5 AMC's in Nimitz's collection.

Australia has been untouched so far and is preparing for the worse in case Scott decides to visit...

NG is where one of the bright spots for the Allies has occurred. An A-24 squadron out of PM rained death on the IJN. They sank or damaged between 6-9 ships but IJ still was able to take most of NG. Its the only time I've seen KB in the last 3 weeks. Scott go a little irritated with the A-24s and tagged the AF at PM.... to no avail.

Moving over to the DEI. PoW's and Repulse are both alive although Repulse ate 3 torp's and is the body shop. Most of Borneo and the Celebes are in the IJN hands. A few bases that aren't important are still hanging in there and will fall when ever Scott gets around to them. Sumatra, Java and Timor have been pretty quiet except for the occasional visit from Neatties. I'm sure they're next on his list.

The Philippines are about 3/4's of the way conquered. Mindanao should be finished in a week or less. The main island is all Scotts except for the big three. IJA has tried a couple of deliberate attacks at Clark & Manila and gotten a bloody nose. For the last couple of weeks it's been a bombardfest. The Pilipino and US troops are hanging tough. Unfortunately Douggy Mac's air force is gutted. If I can hang on till May like real life I'll be real happy. I expected Scott to shock and awe the Philippines after hitting Manila for his opening airstrike but he has been slowly wearing me down. He ended up sinking 24 of the starting subs plus a boat load of other shipping. I still think PH is the way to go for the IJN. I will admit though that it in combination with 2 day turns has really got me out of sorts.

Up to Burma. The Brits let Rangoon go and have fallen back to Mandalay. In my last 2 GC games Rangoon turned into a black hole and ate up lots of units. Trying something different.

India. Just trying to prepare incase Scott decides to visit. There are quite a few starting IJA divisions which have still not made an appearance.

Hopefully Scott and I can get this AAR going and have some fun!

Yes, Paul is correct, there have been some up's and down's relative to the Japanese liberation of the oppressed people within the Pacific and South East Asia. The Allies sought to suppress the IJN from protecting our cousins with the Washington Naval Treaty two decades ago .... But no more !

The WC and Hawaiian Islands are of no interest to us. We only seek to protect those who can't protect themselves ... To date, the USN has either been hiding at Pearl, or Winston won the argument of Germany first and the USN has been sent to the Atlantic, other than the remaining pigboats which escaped our initial cleansing .....

The PI is mostly been liberated except for the 3 dens of evil where the Americans continue their exploitation ... This too will fall in due time ....

Borneo has mostly fallen though we believe the Allies have make a serious mistake with the bombing of the Miri oil fields. These are insured by some serious Western companies who will undoubtedly take a dim view on MacArthur ordering this bombing .... Just think of the cost ...... This will certainly result in MacArthur being sacked unless we capture him first.

NG has been our biggest surprise with the discovery of a nest of gangsters flying A24'S out of PM. This unit and its commander are under investigation for war crimes and will be brought to justice. And yes my Allied friend, Java will be of interest .... So fly away little birdy while you can .....

Malaya is complete except for Singapore and we have plans under way to bring this to a quick resolution ....

The Peoples of South East Asia continue to warmly greet the IJN/IJA as saviors & liberators, casting aside centuries of Western exploitation .....

The oil fields of Miri and Brunei start with half the capacity "damaged" to simulate that they are under development. This gives the player the dilemma of deciding whether to spend the 1000 supply to repair each point of damage or just let them stay damaged.

For supply producing industry the payback of 1000 supply takes 1000 days (2.75 years) of production, but for oil you need to decide if you need oil so badly that sacrificing that much supply is justified. Japan does need oil for fuel for ships and for heavy industry production.

The big factor is to look into your crystal ball and guess how long you will hold the industry before the enemy takes over.
