Hi
When i download an update it fails after trying to update with a msg telling me i have conflict. The game menu then fails to open with a msg lua5.1.dll is missing
and i can only update via the exe in the folder. This then fails with the msg it couldn't open the destination file. Help. Reinstalled back to version 1 but
unable to update game. [X(]

Try updating the game manually.
Download the patch from the following link:
ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/WarInTheE ... -v1084.zip
Once you have downloaded the file please unzip it. Run the extracted file to update the game.

Hi
Tried the link. It downloads, extracts, updates and
fails with 'encountered a sharing violation while accessing C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grisby's War in the East\WarInTheEast.exe'

Close the game and any game-related menus that are still open.
Ensure your HDD is free of errors and has sufficient free space.

Sorry, getting very frustrated now. Stripped wite off computer. Ran a registry clean program to strip out anything uninstall
may have missed. Downloaded vanilla version one from matrix. Downloaded current update and manually extracted it. Still
fails to update and tells me there is a sharing violation. Before running it i checked Task Manager to ensure
nothing from matrix or wite was open. Help!

Sharing violation are usually caused by third party program interferences, like anti-virus for example.
Download the update manually like I have told before , boot your Windows in safe mode and install the patch.
For on how to boot your Windows in safe mode check the tutorial presented on the page below:

Many thanks. Safe mode worked. I have no idea what program causes the conflict but am now patched to
v1085beta.
Will update all future patches via safe mode to be sure. Looking forward to playing with the new functionality now![:)]
