SPWaW won't install

Downloaded the full SPWaW 7.1 and after unloading the install application from winzip, when I click on the install application, I get a "SUF60Runtime has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." in customary WindowsXP fashion.
It doesn't even get off the ground to begin installing, this error occurs almost instantly after trying to run the file.
Do I need to find some software to run this application that I might not have? Or is there anyplace other than gamesdomain (where I downloaded this) that I can try? Or perhaps an older version than 7.1?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello
Apparently the zip opened nicely and was not corrupted...do you have any virus scanners running in the background? Those may mess things up.
If you have a fast connection you could of course try downloading again, just in case there was an error first time.
Afaik there are no other d/l locations for the latest version except Games Doman, but I seriously doubt thet their file is buggy. You coult d/l from different location though.
SPWaW should run nicely on standard XP, at least my copy runs fine. So you should not need any extra programs.
My guess is some of your background programs doesn't like the installer.

Unfortunately those are the only solutions I've tried so far--I've downloaded it three times and from two different particular servers (thank god for cable modems!) and have made sure that Norton and co. were shutdown. I'm still open to the idea that downloading and unzipping 400M is something of a risk of file corruption and may just try downloading again, but I'm a bit suspicious after so many tries.
I just wondered if I require a certain software for the application and so I noticed the application, under it's "properties" is a product of Setup Factory 6.0, and so I found a trial version of this SF6.0, downloaded it, and sure enough it's the same application type (to install) and I've had the exact same problem trying to open THAT. It's only a 9M file, so no suspicion of corruption and I deduce that it's unlikely my SPWaW is corrupted, either.
Hmmmm....

Strange.
I did happen to have a SPWaW package still on my hd so I extracted it and started the install...all went fine to the point of selecting install folder. Then I canceled it as I didn't really want to install...my current install is from a MC disk and patched from there.
So..it seems that there is something strange in your system. Now there's already a pile of patches for XP, perhaps one of them will help. At least those are the only additional programs I've installed that might affect to this.
Or some part of your XP install is corrupt. Like some .dll that is used only rarely.
Perhaps someone else has further clues.

MATTKENDALL: When you re-downloaded, unzipped, did you try to install over original download. I found in the past the best way was to make sure all the old/downloaded version was kaput/gone from folders before trying reinstall. You are trying to d/l ver 7.1 not H2H, right ???Hope this is of some help. Good luck.

Yeah, everytime I've downloaded and re-installed again, I've deleted both the existing zip file and the application that came out of it before I start up with the newest one. I'm downloading one more time and I'm going to try to run the application OUT of the zip file, see if that does anything.
I'm down to my last two gigs of hard drive space, so I can't really afford to keep one zip and one application while downloading another.
Well, I appreciate the help guys, hopefully it'll install out of the zip file and I'll say if it did or didn't do anything, but if there's any other plans, I'm all ears! Steel Panthers seems like a promising game. And yeah, I'm just doing 7.1, although if I can get it to work, I'd like to see what H2H's all about?...

While doing my latest download, while surfing the net with a second browser, some webpage crashed ALL my browsers including the download which was at 98%!
Ugh, well it is a free game...

Problem solved, thanks for the help, though!
Buggy computer was in fact the problem. Nothing a "restart Windows" couldn't solve, actually.
Oh well, I'm sure there's been more embarrasingly simple problems than this...
