Do we have a closer estimate other than the end of the year? The end is near. Repent [:D]

October 31st was our deadline to have the "Gold Master" ready (everything finished and ready to hand over to the installer builders). That's come and gone and we weren't close. Ralph is still highly motivated but he is flesh and blood and the schedule was just too ambitious.
We aren't ready to announce any new estimate (we just don't know yet), but I can say that the shortfall was bigger than just days or weeks.

How many people are working on the game?

Thomas Harvey and I are playtesting his
Pacific At War scenario and simultaneously playtesting his
four smaller scenarios
Operation MI, Battle for Santa Cruz Islands,
Battle for the Eastern Solomons,
and the name of the fourth one escapes me at the moment. We're on turn 40 and there's 194 turns so we'll be
here doing this a while. Steve Sill is perfecting our
TGW scenario I suspect. And there's at least three more
playtesters that are working on their scenario's and it's all getting done and of course Bob Cross has written several
new scenarios for
TOAW IV. His latest is
Savo Island and it's looking good. And of course Ralph is still
the developer par excellence. I'd like to see this gem be released soon myself. There's a pausity of news for the
beta team as well so hang in there.

As Bob mentioned above, the game will not be ready by Christmas, unfortunately. We are making good progress, but we need more time to finish it properly.

This is not the features thread, but I might as well mention it here since you guys are working the game, could you please make a really small fix by changing the names of the basic ,,modern" infantry squads into something more explanatory than just assaultsquad+,etc.? A few of the mod scenarios on 90's balkan wars that I have, have way too many, maybe even a majority of basic assault units without rpg's, while in reality most squads in those wars had rpg's (domestic ones, called m79 and m80), so instead of assaultsquad, it should be for example assaultsquad(Lmgun, no rpg), assaultsquad(m.mgun, RPG),etc. since a lot more people will know what each one is without having to find the text file in the game files that explains what each one is.

I like your basic idea but please be aware that the names of the equipment is limited. Also, did you know you can find all about each
item of equipment by opening the inventory and losses dialog and click on whichever equipment picture that you'd like more info
about.

I have never owned any TOAW, but I have been keeping an eye on this. I still cannot determine if the manual is going to help a newb like me who has no interest in spending weeks reading all of the old TOAW forum messages.
With that said, I think the OP question sounded valid. But I do not believe the last post above answers the question. Because if you click on.., say the "Heavy Rifle Squad" won't that still show a mix of some with RPGs and some without?
Not trying to he hurtful, I am just continuing to attempt to determine if I want to get involved with this knowing that possibly most of the detail you need is not in the manual or in the in-game tools.

If you right click on say, the 'Heavy Rifle Squad', you get another window giving information about the particular type. This includes Countries it was used by (or if it's Common Equipment to all), years it was used, Anti-tank value, Anti-personnel value, Anti-air value, and defense strength, along with any special characteristics it might have. You will not be told whether the squad is equipped with M16's and M72 LAWS, or Mauser K98's and Panzerfausts however.
Hope this helps.
For what it's worth, I've owned every version of TOAW, and still think it's the best overall value for it's price after all these years.
As to when TOAW IV might be released, anyone's guess is valid: the development team is pretty closed-mouthed, and information when it does come is fairly cryptic (probably to keep from building up any false expectations). My best guess is 'maybe' the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2016.

We were all noobs at some point in time. Like you I have no patience for reading manuals. Instead I bought the game and as I came across questions looked up the answer in the manual. And now there are these:

I didn't have the above resource when I started so you have that much more going for you. [;)]

Yeah, first rule of effective client communication. If you have nothing to say then let your clients know you have nothing to say. Literally, it would take 30 seconds to put an update on with an ETA...or not.
