Its so frustrating as BAB is proving a really great pbem game to play on the sizeable battlefield of the Manassas 2 player and no doubt will be even more enjoyable with the bigger battles to come.

A while back Eric mentioned he was working on a pbem patch but its issue was dependent on the decision as to what was included in the next BAB release.

We need that Patch now!

Its worth clarifying for those who haven't played BAB pbem that the reason we resign is that its the only way to make a completed game inactive. Yet another problem we are looking to the patch to correct.

The issue is that if the game is inactive then players can't request the data from the server any more, so if we end the game immediately, then the other player can't view the end-game state. I suppose we can add a button or something that allows players to quit a game at that point without resigning, though it really wouldn't have a very different effect. Passing the game back and forth at the end state is how the game was designed to work, so maybe it's something we can change, but technically it isn't something that needs to be fixed.

You are both beta testers so you might recall that we didn't run into this sort of end-of-game bug during beta testing, consequently it wasn't something on our list of things to fix. I don't remember that any other players have encountered this issue. As you might recollect, we didn't have many beta testers playing PBEM games to the end in the last few months of beta testing, and Erik Rutins and I ended up doing most of that testing ourselves. There are many, many different use cases for game endings, and it's possible some of them escaped testing in the final iterations. It might make sense to move this discussion to our beta testing forum where we can discuss it with other testers.

If you wouldn't mind emailing me your game's serial number, your login username and password, and the game name, I'll take a look and see whether I can duplicate this. (I know you've probably sent to me this kind of information before, but I can't seem to find it among my old emails.)
