With the 1.08.07 patch, seeing Soviet air units go to zero, then not recover, even if moved to reserve. It's early 1944 in a server game. Never seen this before.

And the other.

It's been a few turns now that the units up around Leningrad degraded to zero aircraft. There was a IAD and an NBAD unit. Both on supplied rail. I moved move of the air units that went to zero to the reserve for several turns where they remain at zero.

Logistics phase log suggests you're playing with 1.08.04 patch. Maybe there is version mismatch between you and your opponent?

Solution of your problem is very simple. You have too big air force and you have reached the limit of active aircraft in the game.

I admit the limit of roughly 32000 aircraft was chosen without consideration what is possible to achieve with Soviet industry in-game, but it is what it is and cannot be changed. You have 905 air groups (I stopped increasing my airforce at 580) that use 27126 planes (the rest of plane "space" is allocated to Axis aircraft). By the way, you have just 124 airbases (I had 100 and 1/4 of my airforce was in national reserve) and some of them are really overloaded. This causes plane losses that could have been avoided. For example, deploying 9 regiments of 40 Il-2M3 to a single base must cost you 10-15 machines lost per turn.

Pavel once explained to me there's a limit on how many active pilots/aircraft may be handled by the game engine and this is in the 30-32k range thus a cleanup function erases and disbands (mostly soviet) units once the limit is in reach.

But maybe it doesn't erase units now for human player and they stay at 0. After all it's up to player to manage air units now but he has no control over planes added to them.

It took some turns to send-back aircraft, they are likely to be disbanded within a short time.
