Hi.

I tried to update to version 2.0.10 using the update client.
Program started to execute and updated the Client first.
Then I got the message:

"Failed to load update data file - possible Client/data Version mismatch"

The update client shut down thereafter

I updated now via direct download from FTP and I am now on 2.0.10. Game seems to work fine.

But every time I activate the update Client I get the same message and the Client shuts down.
Is there a way to fix this?

I am on WIN 7

Are you talking the Steam client?

No, not Steam.
Good old-fashioned local Installation.

Christof, that sounds like a problem with the Matrix installer/updater not being able to update itself to the latest version. On my computer the Updater fails 90% of the time. There is some clash between it and my AV software and the MS firewall. I was able to get it to update and download last night but I had to pause my AV and then "allow" the updater in the firewall. That worked and it updated itself and downloaded the file from the FTP. You can try that or shoot a message to Matrix Tech Support directly since it is their software.

I Just read this after already posting my thread about it. I have had the same problem with all the games I own. I bought a new computer last year ( window 8) and it will not do any check for updates. I just do it manually. I have not posted anything about this until today because I could get the update manually.

Please do try to add exceptions for the autorun.exe or the whole game folder to your anti-virus. Try temporarily disabling your anti-virus. If all else fails, try temporarily uninstalling you anti-virus to troubleshoot this and see if in any of those scenarios, the issue is resolved. In our experience, this is almost always due to anti-virus software getting too aggressive.

I tried disabling the AV Software. No effect and same message.

Now, are you sure this will help? Couldn't it be that the update.exe is corrupted?
The system tried an update of the autoupdate function before shutting down.

This would mean I have to re-install FCRS and then disable the AV every time I execute the autoupdate.

Anyway, disabling your AV Software when downloading stuff from the net is pretty scary...

Update.exe needs the exceptions and also clearance in your firewall for the FTP function to work. I would look to see if Windows firewall is running. I was surprised to see MS firewall intercept the updater and ask if it was allowed thru the firewall.

And yes, pausing AV to download scares the hell out of me too, and it should not need to be done, but there are so many AV, firewall, OS, (and Steam) combos that mess these type of transfers up. Hopefully we will be able to figure these items out soon.

Or just try to download the update manually from any of these mirrors:

Once you have downloaded the file please unzip it. Run the extracted file to update the game.
