German Micro, Supply and Tactics

Okay I finally got into the game big time. I will be honest I often try to ignore GHC and Fuhrer relationship and go straight for Supply/Transport/and flexible objective... Expensive for the PPs... also totally angers all 3 Front Commanders killing my tactical advantages most of the game.

Following this recipe I cut off 70 Russian Red Divisions ... but I can never keep oil and swinging attacks up every turn for the first 12 weeks. Several Fronts are always running dry 3 or 4 turns(also not including the time it takes to refit and rest). I never have the PPs and foresight to keep things moving and the Panzers rolling. The AI is very very clever in stuffing 15 divisions down some pipeline hole between two army groups and totally sabotaging me. Those divisions get destroyed or thrown back but then I will have to spend a month or two getting them back in place and that's not always possible.

About the best I have achieved is Baltic States~Minsk~Kiev in 12 weeks ... and it seems the best place to win this game is Leningrad(at least arriving there) the size of the Red Army when it starts to conscript Brown Divisions(whoa, I have at least 100 of them on the front lines now) and 3 deep... Very hard to make Panzer breakthroughs. I do not feel I'm on par with history. I would like an examination on what other's do and feel toward this ... I aimed my Panzers one Player suggested toward Polotsk in Russia in an attempt to cut through and along with AGN cut off more Red Units. Now though at week 12 the Red Units are recovered and able to fend me off without overwhelming superiority.

Hard to keep up supply. In fact near impossible... All my units are needing rest. Hard to keep the AI in check... Suggestions?

well i was going to offer some of my advice, but tbh i'm useless also, so have a look on what this user has done, as he has won tm.asp?m=3981524&mpage=1&key=&#3981575

so seems to know what he is doing a lot more than i do anyway, best player so far by a long way, or earliest win anyway

Whoa, that guy is impressive. Wonder how the heck he managed to keep the fuel in his gas tank to run that long!!!

Well, my Panzers were not able to move for quite some time. End of August I had my first break outs, by that time I saved enough gas to move deep and far. The trick is not to let the infantry do most of the break through work and rest the Panzers while they do it. Otherwise you'll wear down your Panzer groups and they will be pretty useless once you get through.

I've only played one game to conclusion, but once you have reached the Dnepr (or have come close to it) you have to halt for some weeks, refit your panzers, bring up your infantry armies, stockpile fuel and wait for the rail lines to reach further into Russia so that you can establish FSB's closer to the front. Once this is done, you should be able to pierce the Russian lines if you concentrate your armoured spearheads. There'll be losses, but it should be possible to force your way through anything the Russians can throw at you with the righ use of air support, artillery and focus-cards.
