Three AGN Ger. inf., w/attached theater arty, are trying to siege Liepaj.

The end of the turn is attached.

No reduction in the fortress on the following turn.

(The railroad siege worked fine in previous turns).

I've had a similar issue, siege artillery all set up next to a target, but no effect on defender entrenchment.

Hi,

Theatre artillery will reduce fortifications and provide a combat bonus. Siege artillery is for cities only.

Siege artillery will take effect the turn AFTER it arrives on location.

It'll reduce defender entrenchment to zero.

The relevant Daily Theatre Log will give you the details.

Yes, the railroad arty siege part of the game is working fine.

Yes, There's a problem.

Theater arty is NOT reducing structure when next to a city. [X(]

Theatre artillery isn't meant to affect cities.

There is collateral damage to the city whenever combat occurs with artillery but it's only a side effect.

If you want to reduce entrenchment levels of a city you've got to use the big guns - siege artillery.

O'K got it now (slowly re-read 4.11 and 412).

I have always associated the word siege with fortification, as in "the fort was under siege by a battery of 6 guns...".

So I had trouble understanding that in this game you siege a garrison, but reduce a fortification, both by way of the structure point mechanic but with different tools (units).

Perhaps your "too long" manual could add just a few more words? [;)]
