If I put a commerce feature on a private citizen ship will they make more income on trades and freight deliveries? If they can this seems like another source of revenue. Higher prices at delivery of goods.

Do you mean commerce centers? If so then no, because they are used in couple with docking bays, i.e. ships dock at the station and buy resources, paying to the commerce center.
