Border Violations

I moved my Finns up on to the B 'border hexs'. I did not move across the border hexes. I did attack enemy units on the other side of the border hexes. So I incurred a 15PP penalty. Fair enough. So I stopped attacking. But I gained control of those hexes. Now again in the subsequent turn I have been penalized again another 15PP. Is this WAD? If so does this mean I am going to suffer a 15PP penalty for the rest of the game? It would seem harsh. [&:]

First of all thanks for reporting any potential issue.

If what you say is right it sounds like something is wrong indeed. But again this is one for Cameron. He'd have to take a look.

Do you have a savegame? Maybe the same that can illustrate the other issue?

you can send to vic@xs4all.nl

Best wishes,
Vic

Hi Michael,

First of all thanks for reporting this.

You helped me find a serious glitch in a part of the code that only affects PBEM++ games.

I have created a public beta hotfix to adress this.

http://www.vrdesigns.nl/privatepatch/Ba ... ix101f.zip

Install instructions:
1) Find your game folder
2) Rename Barbarossa.exe to something like Barbarossa_backup.exe
3) Copy the .exe in the .zip file in the same directory

How to verify it went correctly:
1) You'll see v1.01f in the top left corner of the main menu on startup.

How will it affect your PBEM++ game?
1) Both of you have to use this public beta hotfix.
2) After you have finished your current turn, and your opponent played his with the hotfix, and you get the turn back again the issues should be solved.

Issues that will be solved include Finland Violation and Transport Card.

Let me know if it actually does fix it. I'll await for your confirmation before rolling out the hotfix as recommended for all PBEM++ players.

Best wishes,
Vic

I have v1.02beta. On my PBEM game I got 5PP penalty because the game claims my finnish troops attacked across Fin/Sov border. I am 100% sure it didn't happen.
Karelian Army is behind red B-B line. SE Army in on the red line but I didn't attack on those fortified high stack hexes. Failed attack against Leningrad fortifications would have resulted casualties, but I have none Finnish infantry casulaties on two previous turns.

@Jukipo,
Can you verify your opponent is also using version 1.02 ?

Grrr. I've just had this too with my Server game vs Gunnulf. I moved onto the 'B' hexes and I've now been accused of violating the border and docked 15 x PP's! The movements of my Karelian forces onto the 'B' line did flip over control of hexes on the other side to Finnish as the Soviets have 'Sir-Robin'ed' in this area but I did not attack or move over the border.

Sheesh. Both of us are running v1.02 beta.

Vic - any ideas?

Gunnulf - game is on hold for now.

Hi,

This is a specific PBEM++ bug that we thought we'd resolved but it looks like only partially.

Vic is in charge of this one and he'll be back on Monday.

Cheers,
Cameron

Hi Speedy,

The fact that the PP penalties did not occur again in the next rounds might very well mean the turn before it occurring was played by your opponent still using 1.01.

This is the most likely explanation imho.

If your 100% sure you BOTH already were a couple of rounds on 1.02 before the PP violations occuring let me know and i'll do a double check.

Best wishes,
Vic

Hi Vic,

On my PBEM game we both used 1.02 beta from the beginning. The PP violation occured on turn 5. On the next turn I withdrew my finnish units and PP penalty did not occur again.

Thanks Vic,

I'll ask Gunnulf as I know I was 100% on 1.02 before we started the game!
