Europe 200x200 NASA Sattelite based map

Third time I'm attempting to post this.

I made a map. It is huge. I did it by converting a sattelite map into hexes, and then manually put it in the editor. Took a while. It isn't done, I still need to add terrain features, and to do that, I need to know where what is. As such, I need to know the scale of each hex. Can someone help me with that? The math part?

So yeah. It is on the scenario bank if you want to download and look. I forgot some islands east of Spain. The Belares? I forget. Whatever. New version coming up soon.

Update, I fixed a bunch of problems, forgot Cyprus too. Whoops.

I will be making this into a scenario eventually. Help would be useful, especially with what terrain goes where.

If requested, I will explain the quite easy way I converted the image into hexes. Sadly I cannot post links yet.

Edit: Ok, so I believe I found the scale. Up and down is about 10 miles per hex, while diagonal is 20 miles per hex.

This scenario under development by icym is very similar in map scale to your map:

I'll probably make a new one that excludes the parts west of Spain and includes up to Stalingrad. I took a look at icym's, and yes, about the same scale. I want to make mine as accurate as possible though. I'll be using google maps as a base for the terrain. My plan is to match each hex to the territory it matches in google maps. It'll take a while though. Probably about a week or a half week once I figure out what I'm going to do. Probably not going to start it any time soon though.

Well, I can only wish you luck. Map making can be fun, but it is also a process that takes some time :)

I recently figured out you can make photo overlays in the map editor. Face palm. That makes things slightly easier. I was using an external program to generate a hexmap from a picture. :P

Oh well, whatever.

Actually, now I'm beginning the massive slog that is SFT editing, so expect this to not happen for a while.
