Soviet Retreat Settings on T1

Just starting the return game with Flavius and he has very cleverly set the retreat percentage on his units to higher levels than the default 50% on Round 1. The result is a much stiffer Soviet line to roll thru on the 22nd June. It makes a significant difference to the opening gains. AGS is very tough.
So my question is, is this capability for the Soviet WAD for Turn one?
If it is WAD no problem, but a rethink of 22nd June is in order for both sides. But if its an unintended control for T1 I will await a fix.
I had no idea you could fiddle with these settings on T1. Nice one Flavius [8D]

I only recently discovered the capability myself.
And you have only yourself to blame here.

I figured if you're going to hyperoptimize the German opener, why, one good turn deserves another.
In truth I do not know if this is kosher or a bug.
In fairness I think this is a bit overpowered.

Occurs to me that a nice way to handicap things for the German would be for the Soviet to set all retreat priorities to 25% on turn 1. Maybe it should be that way anyhow by default on the border armies, except for perhaps certain locations.
That makes a big difference, too, in the other direction.

Yeah I think its its a bit OTT for the 22nd June attacks. Maybe a HR would suffice.

We can restart and I'll leave it all on 50%. Gonna miss that, though. [:D]

If this is WAD then I agree a HR is needed as of all turns in the game the first is the least that should see the Axis hamstrung IMO

On the retreat settings:
The AI is fiddling with these settings as well. Going for all-or-nothing if it really wants to take a strongpoint or going for quick retreat if it thinks falling back is its only option.
These retreat settings are also interesting for the attacker as putting your loss at no limit will allow your attacks to continue longer.
There is a trade off though as even orderly retreats cause morale drops.
But its a fair point to ask if this is properly balanced and historical.
Feel more than free to play on and post the casualty statistics over the first 4-5 rounds for comparison.
Best wishes,
Vic

I don't think anyone minds the Soviets tweaking retreat settings after turn one. It's just allowing it for turn one that is under question.

Fair point. Cameron should be back after the merry season. Your suggestion has my blessing.

Agreed. It's supposed to be a surprise attack so no turn 1 tweaking for the Sovs

Hi,
Yep, we can do that.
Cheers,
