Some questions...
How does the game allocate captured tanks to axis units like good ones --- t34, what tank can they replace or do they form new units?
In the K43 offensive they were in the SS units are they free to be in any panzer units?
Captured trucks - do the go immediately to units?

AFVs and guns take up slots of the same type. Seems to happen when there is a big enough shortage in a German unit.

So a battalion must have the same type of tanks so sy if it needs 40 MK1V then it will also need 40 T34?

No , it can have a mixed structure , 17 T-34 and 23 mk-iv for instance.
Or you could have a panzer division fielding 5 or more types of medium tanks .( pz-38, pz III, pz-IV, t-34, valentine,)
plus type subvariants ( pz-IIIG,H,J,M,L)

Over time the game will try to have the same number of slots occupied with equipment compatible to what the TOE specifies. Some scenarios have more detailed unit OBs with multiple tank types (provided there were enough slots, since there are only 32, and it's hard to fit the myriad of different elements in a German panzer division) at start, but this will not last. The process of upgrading and swapping elements is semi-random, which means units select best type (with lowest load of (in use+need)/have), and the chance to switch equipment is affected by various factors like being newer, older, obsolete, captured, closer to rail, on refit, missing a lot or being close to TOE etc.
