Few questions (beta patch 1.2)

Hi,

Been really enjoying the game even although ive been struggling make much headway with Germany.

1. What ingame effects of relationships with jodl and Himmler and keitel have? various events affect this but I have no clue as to what in game effects they have.

2. In my last game I had transferred a PG to AGS. when it finally reached kiev it had a long trail of truck icons all the way back to the main supply point. ive read the part of the manual that explains the compromises that were made with regards to supply in AGC but does that really mean that a PG that is transferred (from AGC?) wont use the rail net? if so then wouldn't that mean that transferring PG's will cripple the truck pool?

3. Regarding postures. fatigue/low readiness has been the stick that has beaten me over the head in all the campaigns ive ran. that leads me to think that I need to be coming out of blitzkrieg posture more often and also resting armies. problem with that though is the armies need to be taken out of the line to do this and there are never enough divisions to cover them. how do people manage this? the obvious way would be to rest and refit on an individual division basis although that doesn't solve the posture changing issue.

I've run into the same problem, when I transferred a PG from AGC to AGN, since Leningrad is my/Hitler's priority. The PG use the fuel from AGN, which is abundant, but they seem to get it by truck from Minsk, which now is some 17 hexes away... If my transferred PG keep going and join the attack on Leningrad, this will be a recipe for truck disaster and general Wagner's suicide ... ;-) Anything I/we have missed here?(Hope so!)

I always just abuse these guys in favor of pretty much everyone else. I haven't many, if any, in game effects for so doing.

Played with the normal setting for PPs, I can't figure out how to find enough PPs to do division by division.

I think the game needs tuning with respect to normal setting PPs. I've seen that Cameron's position is that you should have to make tough decisions with limited resources, however in my experience, it's simply too difficult to fund normal operational HQ decisions like FSB and airbase relocations (which in and or themselves have plenty of immediate downside).

Hi cato,

Transferring PG's to adjacent theatres, especially from AGC, requires some forethought. You want to position your FSB to minimise the distance your truck columns have to travel. Major incursions deep into adjacent theatres are always going to be problematic.

If you can manage to keep the other AGC PG HQ within close range of your FSB then the averaging of the two AGC PG's truck columns will help a lot.

The game is designed around this to give you some flexibility in how you deploy your PG's but there are limits. Removing these results in some very unbalanced play and outcomes that weren't feasible on the day (logistically).

Cheers,
Cameron

Switch the infantry armies fairly early to sustained. This can be done while they are catching up to the PGs.This way almost no Divisions accumulate AP penalties, the few that do can be rested individually.
The PGs can usually be pulled back behind an Infantry Army for R&R as a whole

Cheers Falke il give that strategy a go.

Cameron,

The way it works currently could lead some ridiculous situations though. If my AGC FSB is in minsk and I transfer a PG to AGS then the truck columns would need to drive back west towards brest and round the southern edge of the marshes which could easily amount to some 25 to 30 hexes. I assume it isn't possible for the game to be coded for PG's to take supply and use the rail net for the theatre the PG HQ is in?

And how bout the question regarding the characters I mentioned in my original post. Are these guys included just for chrome? It seems strange that they have relationship values and events that affect them yet no obvious in game effect from these relationships.

Hi cato,

Your truck columns will follow the optimum route in which case cross country might be it. Keep in mind that if it's a difficult route then it would have probably been logistically impossible to arrange back in '41.

The three characters you mention do have an impact on the game.

This varies depending on your chosen strategy but all three affect certain decisions in various ways.

However they are minor characters that have less impact overall than the major ones.

Cameron
