I've just installed the game. Whenever I try to launch it, though, it freezes while loading. All I can see is a "CotD 1805-1809" splash screen and then nothing. The game keeps loading indefinitely (apparently) and if I click the mouse it crashes. Any suggestion?

I'm running Win 7 x64

PS. I've downloaded the latest patch, but the patch installer tells me that the game is already updated.

You want to run the patch anyway. The game incorrectly reports that it is at the latest version. Running the patch usually corrects the issue you're having, from what I've seen.
