BACKGROUND:

Stalingrad: Der Kessel relates the part of the Stalingrad battle between November 19th and December 24th, 1942. Although the mod is not intended to be in any way an official or semi-official sequel of the popular Manoi's Stalingrad mod, it can be noted that it begins more or less when Manoi's Stalingrad ends.

The strategic map of the mod includes a very large area from Serafimovitch on the Don to the northern outskirts of Stalingrad on the north (area of Rynok), from The Tschir Valley to the slted lakes area in the south, from the Don to the Tschir on the west and all the Stalingrad's city outskirts in the east.

The mod begins on november 19th, 1942,at the time when the Soviet red Army launched a huge counter offensive on the left flank of the Axis forces, between Serafimovitch and the "Don's Curl", towards the sectors previously defended by the Third Romanian Army. It ends on December 24th, at the time when the Wintergewitter operation was officially closed after its military failure.

The objective of the German/axis player will be in the game to 1) hold at any price the airports area and the Stalingrad's City area, so at least what the German forces succeeded to do in the reality and 2) succeed in liberating the encircled forces during the Wintergewitter operation (what the Germans failed to do in the reality). It will not be to avoid the encirclement: the Grand Campaign is build so that the German player will be encircled in the Kessel ANYWAY and whatever he does during the first part of the game.

The objective of the Russian player will be 1) try to eliminate the Germans before the 14th of december (note that in the game the Wintergewitter operation begins on december 14th because in the reality the 48th panzer corps started from Kotelnikovo on december 12th but took app. 2 days to reach the Aksaï rivere which is the southern border of the mod's strategic map) and 2) push back the Germans forces of the Wintergewitter operation to the south from where they came.

This mod was originally released for CC5 by Panzerjäger and was updated to v1.2. Drizzt has now converted that version to WAR/TLD and included enhancements/fixes to make Stalingrad Der Kessel Mod v 1.0 for WAR/TLD....

Drizzt is trying to add Romanian voices to the mod, anyone here speak/understand Romanian?

Wasn't there a 'Real Romanians' mod for CC3 many years ago? That was ages ago, but perhaps the author of that mod would let you use the voice cues for this one (assuming there were some -- I don't recall.)

I/we can double check Real Romanians but I do not believe it had Romanian voices....
