Thinking About Buying

I want to buy this but there is one thing I need to know before I commit. Is there a campaign game that goes from start to finish, 12/41 to 1945? It seems to say there is a campaign that goes from the beginning of the war to the end but it's split up into sub sections with units being carried over from section to section.

If it is indeed split up then I probably will buy something else. At the same time I do understand how difficult it would be for an programmed opponent to handle a four year Pacific campaign so I can understand why it might be split up into pieces.

Also, I don't see anything mentioned about the campaign on the mainland. Is that omitted?

The campaign is just a set of linked scenarios like in Panzer Corps and you transfer your core units (The requisition points as well I believe?). Every scenario for the A.I is isolated from each other except the dynamic events that could affect the strength or available forces in some scenarios. The A.I is not aware of anything outside its own scenario settings.

So it is no different from how Panzer Corps works except here there are dynamic events.

Hm , I believe the combat mechanics, supply and air/naval handling is quite different from PzC.
I've played PzC a lot, even created a few scenarios. I now prefer playing/creating scenarios in OOB.
And you get 3D units/terrain (I'm an old school board gamer, but love the look of this game).
Opinions will of course vary.

Well, it was either this or DC:Barbarossa. Looks like I'll get Pacific.

So how many linked scenarios are there for Japanese? For Allies?

Lobster,
Did you like Order of Battle Pacific? DC: Barbarossa is a fantastic game. Simply wonderful. Just wish it went for entire east front war 1945.

I have only played the Japanese campaign and I think there are 11 or 12 scenarios in it.
