Ok, I am upgrading my Japanese empire notes and scribblings to Onenote.

I am putting all those little bits of knowledge into it that help playing Japan.

Mine carrying Iboats.

Which PBs, Escorts, Cruisers, Minelayers carry which mines.

Which squadrons upgrade to night fighters.

My favorite merchant ship conversions.

All the Infantry Divisions that upgrade to IJA 43 squads.

All the units with CD guns.

The best AA units.

Tactical plannning

Logistical planning exported from tracker

Timestamped Screenshots of enemy bases etc.

etc., etc.

What I like about it is that you can cut and paste pictures and drag them anywhere on the page.

It is far easier to search than the AAR.

Who else does this or similar.?

I just keep a Word doc with notes from turn to turn. It's getting unwieldy now that it's 1944, one of the documents is 280 pages long, but... it's not that bad. I know from memory which subs carry more mines, which carry midgets, etc. Also which PB's carry mines. I keep notes on what was at a specific base in the "header" to each day as well.

I use Tracker for finding units with devices I want (CD guns).

I have not used OneNote, but will now seriously experiment with it.
Currently using Excel spreadsheets.

You wouldn't want to pass on some of those notes to another JFB in training?

I have notes for Allied stuff, But most of it is strategy. I don't want it on the forum, but I have no problem emailing proven AFB's my ideas and planning stuff.
Upgrade stuff, OK. Favorite bases to hold, Nope. Favorite upgrades for aircraft, OK. How I prefer to do the upgrades, OK, and why.
And so on and so forth....GP

I am going to post some edited screenshots in my AARs. I have to edit them, as I include information garnered from other people's AARs which might break opsec.

For example, I have notes on how Pax Mondo uses planes. As well as other players, but since Pax isn't doing PBEM, it isn't a breach of security to mention here.

Not sure about wholesale distribution for that reason. Plus, you will become a better player for having gone thru the building exercise.[;)]

I understand this and General Patton's points about keeping 'your strategy' yours.
Some of the upgrade stuff takes a long time to aggregate, years, and is valuable information to help decisions made in the first years.

I do something very similar, with a tool called Omnioutliner. I track just about everything - daily to-dos, operations, my training programs. Very useful; I can stop what I'm doing and come back to the game days later, w/o missing a beat. Obligatory screenshot, showing the organization and timing of a big convoy:

I haven't written anything down in my current game, but in the game before I had an complete excel spreadsheet detailing my defensive units all over the Empire, updated every week.

I found that to be useful, but a total ballache!

Because it's an E-class, I'm going with Type 4. I'm pretty sure that's one of the small ones. I know that very few ships carry Type 93 (and no E-class ships, I think). And Type 88 is subs only... so yeah, Type 4.

Am I right?

I disagree. Keeping notes as the Allies is, if anything, more important.

No, but I have a set regime for working my way around the map to view bases and TF.

I don't use Tracker or any other third party software. I don't keep excel or word documents. Whenever I have a need to check something I find the ingame information lists more than adequate. If I have to access multi screens to get all the data I will write that data down on a piece of paper but I don't keep the piece of paper.

Sorry, you are wrong. Now I'm talking from a stock scenario one game. The CM Hatsutaka crries 30 type93 mines. If converted to the E-class she carries 20 type93. From my experience CM's that convert will continue to carry the same mine type that they had before conversion. Often with a smaller payload though. Here's one I like that carries the larger (or at least more effective) type93 mine, the Yaeyama. She carries 60 type93 mines both before and after conversion from CM to E.
