Graphics not updating

When i reload an already existing but updated historical library, that has changes to the Smallgfx I use for already existing units, placed on the map, the graphics go missing... and the counters are left blank.

Obviously either I am doing something wrong, or there is a bug.

I tried making some small graphics and had a similar problem. Those graphic symbols are mostly transparent, meaning they have no background. If you make them with a background, even white, I believe it makes the counter blank. Maybe Vic will let us in on the secret of how to make them transparent. [;)]

I made mine transparent...

You have that option when you make a PNG.

What program did you use to make them?

I use an old program, Microsoft Image composer, but I guess I could have used Gimp instead, which I also have. :)

@Elmo,

Use Paint.NET. Excellent. Easy. Free and very .png and transparency friendly.

@Ernie

Uploaded v0.80a. And do the following:
-Load historical library
-Replace engineer small graphic with an existing graphic
-Save
-Go to Simple Editor
-Reload the historical library
-Save
-Problem should be fixed

Best wishes,
Vic

Still can't get the Engineer small gfx (5.png) to display correctly. See the screen shot. Note that the recon symbol on the German unit is fine and so is the symbol on the Soviet engineer. I tried clearing the German engineer cells and reinstalling the graphic, then reloading the historical library but it actually made it look worse. Both the German engineer and recon units are part of the Panzer Division model. No idea why one works and the other doesn't.

Strange bug, you sure that the engineer graphics is not "strange" in any way?
Or did you put one of them as a secondary graphics?

It's not my graphic. It's the standard 5.png small graphic. Will check for a secondary graphic but I've never heard of that. It does look line one is overwriting another one.

Edit - OK, I changed the 5.png to the 64.png. Now you can clearly see one graphic is overwriting the other in the shot below.

I would like to see your historical library and then I will tell you what I think is wrong. I cannot get it by downloading the scenario however, you will have to send it to me in an email... I will PM it to you.

File sent. Maybe the recon symbol is working the same as the engineer symbol but it just looks better as it's not as big as the engineer symbol.

This must almost for sure be a case of that historical model having a SmallGfx specified as well as a Gfx1.

The SmallGfx always renders.

The Gfx1,Gfx2,Gfx3 renders depending on which subpart of a historical unit the unit is.

The ability to render a second small gfx over the primary one allows for lots of neat effects, but admittedly this is not one of them :)

best wishes,
Vic
