Are fighter sweep missioms really useful? (BoB)

Bf-109 are not enough, always too few, so German player have to choose in careful way how to use them

Meanwhile, English player is able to distinguish bomber missions and fighter sweeps, even just looking at speed of raid data from radar, if speed is high the raid is made up of only fighters, so fighter command can decide to ignore it to concentrate all forces on German bombers. In this case, fighters on sweeping could be better used as high escorts

If my enemy isn't a dumb, I see really hard to use fighter sweeps as lures for spitfires, I would be more relaxed not making sweeps so to get 4 escort bf-109 for every precious ju-88

In case I haven't understood how to use sweepers: planning to bomb the primary airfield at east of london, I may send fighter sweepers a little at north of Brighton around 45 minuts before than bombers take off?

Sweeps are useless, the AI ignores them, unless you can time them to catch the RAF landing or taking off.

Ah different story, a human opponent is not programmed to ignore them.

But your original post shows the problem, RAF can see the speed and ignore them.

So you start sending the FB wing along to create some interest, or start sweeping the RAF Fighter bases so they have to come up to defend them.
