I'm new to the game, and I was poking around on the fonts. Basically the red text is unreadable, most of the test is too small. I've tried the screen resolution, but it didn't change anything. Is there any way to change the font or font color so it is readable?

I think the only in game option is making the selection panel (lower left one) larger.

The bigger issue is seeing why the other races don't like me.

How could they possibly like you when you play with that red font color?

In the diplomacy screen, you can see the breakdown of the modifiers that make up their overall score. The same for happiness modifiers on the colonies screen.

When first meeting others, there is a negative modifier of "strange and mysterious ways" that is removed over time. So at first glance races don't like each other much.

I have the same problem, only for me, it's the dark blue on black that's completely illegible. I mean, I never have the slightest idea what anything written in that color says. I hope it's not too important.

I don't know if it's my monitor or my eyes, but I know that it's my eyes when it comes to tiny fonts. If there was one change I could make to this game, it would make font sizes/colors user-controllable, at least to some extent.

Maybe it's not practical.. but I bought on sale! - a 32 inch Samsung 1080p TV just to play games like this..

I have no problems seeing anything..colors..fonts..

but that's how pissed I was about small screens..

Nice monitor. I don't have issues seeing with my 24inch. I'm older with failing eyes too.

Anyone trying to run the game at more than 1080p on HD monitors may have experience the problem of the UI too small, tiny ant sized icons , the empire ones , and the text barely readable ...

I found out than disabling display scalling works like a charm. Now I can really see everything perfectly at a resolution of 1440p on my 27" B286HK monitor. Icon don't scale down and text are perfectly readable !

How to do so :

Look up for the DistantWorlds.exe file on C:\xxxx\Steam\steamapps\common\Distant Worlds Universe
Right click on it
Go to tab Compatibility
Check the box "Disable display scaling on high DPI Settings

Of course you will still have to change your desktop resultion to the one you want to play the game with, since there is not option in game to adjust it.
