Question/ideas about the AI

Hi. Think I´m gonna buy this amazing game very soon. Before I get it I´d like to know a few things of the AI.

-Do the AI always use its defensive fire when one of your units is at shoot range?

-Do the AI consider the accurate range before firing? Shooting usually at long range is not the best tactic. Perhaps a random or predeterminted probability (ie 10% short range/30% medium/60% short) would be less predictable.

Not at all. Opportunity fire is randomized. Could happen at long range, could happen at shorter range. It depends on the how the internal "dice" roll.

Whether opportunity fire maxes out at Long, Medium, or Short Range -- this differs both by shooter type and by target type, and is configured, customized (and moddable) on a per-side and per-nation basis in each scenario's .ai file. By default, we have configured the opportunity fire in the .ai files to reasonably effective settings. (Unlike in the old JTCS, where by default every A/I unit was set to opportunity fire at maximum range.)

Excellent! For sure this AI must be challenging and unpredictable, and there is also an adaptative version that makes SP and MP games an unique experience full of replayability...
