Defending with no AP's

I am wondering if my Axis Pz units (after moving, then attacking, then exploiting) are becoming easy targets for my esteemed Soviet opponent due to having only 0 to 15 or 20 AP's left at the end of my turn? In Aug I have seen 5 or 6 counterattacks per turn on my leading Pz and motor inf (often stacked together in a two unit stack) and the Soviets win 5 out of 6 with medium losses to my heavier losses. I am finding that my Pz's aren't that great. Is it due to having no AP's left to defend with?

No, they are just that fragile particularly in blitz mode. Single panzer divisions can be counterattacked.

Stack them in wedges, 3-4 high, in sustained offensive mode. Then the Sov can't touch them short of a 5+ hexside concentric attack.

Thank you. I will change tactics immediately.
