Well, that's not exactly a bug, but what bugs me is the icons used for Soviet player, they're all from modern post 1991 era, almost all of them have "Russian Federation" on them or modern RF flag.

That doesn't affect gameplay, so not exactly a bug or glitch, as I've said, so not a big priority, but still addressable.

If you have a source for images of those badges from the 80s or earlier please let us know and we will get them in the game. We went with what we could find at the time knowing they were not period.

Well, badges are a new system, since Soviet military tradition wasn't that strong, we had only banners and decorations.

Overall, the banner would consist of a full historical or new unit/formation name in yellow under either a yellow-on-red star or a Guards insignia, if it's a Guard unit/formation. Unfortunately, due to forum rules I can't post any example, but typing in "полковые знамёна ссср" (regimental banners ussr) in google image search would give you an idea.

On second thought, banners might be a bad idea, since names won't be seen due to their length and small size of the icon.

Does need to be somewhat legible, but some artistic license can be used.

I can hand draw icons and distribute it as whatever license is better (maybe CC-BY or just CC) and to top that national or governmental symbols aren't subjects to copyright if I remember it correctly, but the point is that it won't be possible to see the difference until I make some non-historical changes.

I made an actual proportion template for future use and with a full name of 3rd MRD (3 гвардейская мотострелковая Краснознамённая дивизия, 3rd Guard Motorifle Red Banner Division), chosen as the example as it has an icon in-game, and the letters are reduced to a handful of pixels, even the number can't bee seen.

I wonder if we could zoom in on just a snippet of the banner that would be unique yet recognizable? There might be some insignia or perhaps "3 гвардейская" that would be suggestive enough to use? Just my wondering out loud here.

Could this be used for the 17 Tank Division?
