Display scaling issues with 1.03h

Hi

I have a found a technical issue with patch 1.03h.

I play on a 27 inch monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1440. I use Windows 7. Nevertheless, I find more confortable in general (and also with DC:B) to use a 125% scaling (defined in Windows control panel, display options).

Before 1.03h, the game scaling worked ok.

Now, with latest patch 1.03h, the 125% scaling is not recognized by the game engine, and no (ie 100%) scaling is appllied, making the text unconfortably small to me.

The issue is caused by the new game engine, because I tested reverting back to the 1.03b exe and the 125% scaling is accepted as usual.

Hope my explanation is clear, and hope you guys fix it.

Regards

Thanks zak, but no solution in that thread

Anyhow, there was no problem to me until latest 1.03h patch

Cheers

Hi there,

Will look into it but might be a few days.

Thing is the old behavior was actually unwanted as the DPI scaling can cause fuzzyiness and minimum resolution to be lower than advertised.

However i'll see if I can find a workaround.

Best wishes,
Vic

Thank you, Vic, for looking into this.
I agree that windows display scaling can cause fuzzyiness, although in my monitor 125% looked very good, better overall than native resolution (in windows) for my eyes
Of course the best would be to be possible to choose an in-game resolution and/or windowed mode

Uploaded v103h3. And the lowRes prefs option to be available at more base resolutions. Give it a try it will for sure make things more readable.

Best wishes,
Vic

Hi Vic.

Tried the LowRes Pref, but it is not good at all (looks something like a 200% scaling ?). Unusable to me.

I don't understand why you guys had to "fix" something that IMHO was not broken...
What was wrong with the old way, allowing windows scaling options to affect the game ? Was it causing issues to anyone ?
IMHO, if someone has set the windows scaling options different than the default 100%, it is because they want it so, and are confortable with it (that was/is my case)

Hi Fransiscus,

Well its a BETA version.

The reason for the change was mainly that things looked too fuzzy and ugly on Win10 which has a different implementation of DPI settings.

Rest assured I take note of your misgivings with the changes. I think I can give the user more control over the Low.Res option and allow him to finetune it to get to a desired level.

Best wishes,
Vic
