Nuclear Warfare 101

Very interesting, long read by a nuclear planner regarding the intricacies of nuclear warfare and it's consequences. Paints a very interesting picture of nuclear warfare from a "Wargamer's" perspective.

I always did consider making an "Aftermath" overlay of existing maps (Only those with strategic targets, however) meant to show what kind of destruction would be wrought after the bombs fell.

Very interesting reading indeed, thank you Stimpak (love the nick, BTW, just playing Fallout 4 [:D]).

I am curious about a thing on the posts, though: the OP says that we could not even imagine what the most important non-military target was, do you have any clue as to what he is refering to?

Perhaps it was morale and the will of the enemy. Some Soviet plans targeted important cultural centers in Europe for destruction with the intent to break the will of the enemy.
Though to be honest, I believe it would have been counter-intuitive and only strengthen the West's resolve.
