Graviteam Tactics: Mius Front is being released tomorrow. The learning curve is steep, the rewards are high.

I am as giddy as a school girl.

I've never played Operation Star, but these screens have me drooling for Mius Front.

op star is on sale now for almost nothing. The winter battles are some of my favorites.

Sokolovo 1943 is my favorite. Just epic.

Aye, I've had my eye on it. [s]Do you recommend any DLC, or is it good as-is to start with?[/s] Sokolovo it is. Thanks!

You may be overwhelmed at first but just start playing and it will become second nature. The troop placement is a little different as is the UI. I put it down after playing it for 5 minutes the first time and came back to it several months later. I sure am glad I did.

ntrlpr, if you need any help with anything send me a PM and I'll try to answer any questions. It's been a while since I've played though.

Much appreciated, M_R. I may well take you up on that! I opted for just the base game; I'll get DLC further down the line if it appeals enough.

I'll definitely be following the release of Mius Front - it certainly looks gorgeous!

Here are a few of my old screens from in game that I took

This was a rather nasty battle indeed where every square inch of the town was fought over

I've really wanted to get into this series but just seem to bounce off it each time I try. The battlefields are so large that it can be difficult to figure out what is going on. Which is of course more realistic than most games [:D]

The series covers a lot of unusual theaters which is awesome, if I could figure it out.

That is definitely one of the big hurdles, navigating the huge battlefields. I was lost at first. Then once you start to get your bearings and how to use the UI to quickly get to your units it becomes easier. There are so many things in the game that you'd never even consider such as clear weather giving way to a storm coming in with the trees bending in the harsh wind and the sun being blotted out.

In one particular night battle I remember the tense feeling as the lights from the enemy's AFV's broke the darkness moving into my defensive perimeter before all hell broke loose. It has great dynamic lighting. There are mods out that help with some subdued sound effects. It really is a truly unique game and probably the most underrated one out there.

Ever try setting your battle settings to limited? I do that so i dont miss as much, on the really big ones i feel i miss a lot of the cool moments.
