Just messing about in the graphic files because I am working a few desert scenarios.. El Alamein for one.
So I want some texture to show through a bit it give it some depth and it turned out OK..
Let me know what you think. I am ceratinly sure there are much better people out there that can make this look better..
Thanks

Thanks Ivan...
Here is a cleaner look without any bleed through from the green texture...
Which looks better?
I think this one is easier on the eyes... Thoughts????
Thanks

Looks lovely but isn't there a problem with these desert and snow mods in that the rules are not there for the special terrain types, etc. Even scenarios in bocage country would not play out well right now as we don't even have walls and hedges let alone bocage.

And since I was messing around I decided to give a try to making a snow (winter) scene..
Thoughts about any of these?

I like both the desert and the winter maps, they have a nice old school AH look to them. I just wish the terrain had it's own graphics file. I have tweaked my counters and vehicles and markers, so makes it tough just to add the terrain. The main layer isn't the problem, it's the alpha that seems to make things complicated.
I'm using PSP7, not sure if GIMP offers easier ALPHA layer editing. In PSP I can't find a way to cut an area of the alpha layer and then paste it into the other file, I have to do the whole alpha at one time.

I totally agree about splitting apart the graphic file into multiple files:
Possible types of files that would split from Terrain.png:
1) Terrain (e.g. potentially could be split into multiple files for desert, europe winter, europe summer, etc)
2) Personnel and Vehicle Counters (e.g. potentially could be split into multiple files by nationality)
3) Informational Counters (e.g. contains Fire, Final fire, Pinned, etc)
4) Other Misc (e.g. contains Flags, Setup, and Exit hexes, etc)
This will be a bit of development work to reference the new files and image locations but sets up a good foundation for the future (easier modding and expansions).

I like the second one better, solid colors rather than the repeating textures.

This would be the best way forward.
