Imac performance

Hi

I have been running War in the East on my ageing ( 2008 4GB 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) iMac ( under VM Fusion and windows 7) very successfully. However when trying to play War in the West the performance is terrible. Very slow (almost unplayable) when I am playing and the AI for the Air phase takes 15-20 minutes. Has the iMac reached the end of its life or are there some settings I can make to speed up the play

Yours - in hope

Stephen Gibson

I'm still using my old Core Duo E8400 (Win7) machine to develop and play WITW (and WITE2). It feels slow sometimes, but overall it is very playable. The only difference is that I have 8G of RAM. VM makes it even worse for you.

WITW "consumes" much more memory than WITE-1 (about 2x), so I think it starts swapping to the disk and renders it unplayable.

Thanks for your reply . Managed to improve performance by allocating more memory to the Virtual Machine , but guess what the Mac side of the fence is now sluggish - might need to look at a new machine. :-).

maybe stick with smaller scenarios until you do - they are much less taxing than the campaigns.

Since you may be looking for a new computer, depending on whether you want a desktop or laptop, I have a 13" MacBook Pro, only a few months old, Retina display and I run WITW in Parallels Desktop with W10. Works great. Very good response. I like it because it's light for travel, I got it with a 512GB flash hard drive. Very happy with it (I also use it for research work for work, Unix based analysis software).

The newer iMacs are also outstanding. The Retina displays are amazing to look at. Happy shopping
