Leaders and OOC

Again I have a situation where all leaders (2) are OOC and all squads/HS (5) are in command. The leaders both have one star and the troops are just 1st line Jerries. Seems strange that the leaders both fail and the units pass the test.

Yes, this can happen. Depending on the situation, the Leaders check for C&C first, then if they fail the squads/HS/crew in the hex has to on their own check for C&C.

It's an SASL mechanic. All leaders check 1st and if any fail, then units themselves have to check individually.

I understand the process. But in my example above what is the morale of the leader and the 1st line troops? What is the statistical chance that all leaders fail but all squads pass?
Tactically it doesn't make sense. Sure a leader can lose it in combat once in a while but they are usually leaders for a reason. To see the units running on ahead and the leaders straggling is a bit strange.

It's for all battalions of the 37th Armor. I was in 3/37.

Am I remembering the play levels correctly:
Easy: AI only suffers from C&C
Normal: Both AI and Human suffer from C&C
Hard: Human player only suffers from C&C
?
Peter, any chance that we can have an option to disable C&C altogether? I realize that it's about the best way to handle handicaps (for both new players and then for veteran players) but I think all players should have the option to play the game with handicaps disabled entirely for both human and AI (i.e., "vanilla" ASL-like). Possible?

· EASY – The human player is always in control of all of his units for the duration of the scenario. The Computer player follows the Command and Control rules.
· NORMAL – Both the computer and human players all units for both sides are always in control.
· HARD – Both the computer and human players follow the Command and Control rules.
· VERY HARD – Computer Opponent is always assumed to be in command of all of its units for the duration of the scenario. The human player follows the Command and Control rules.

Excellent, thank you. ISTR Peter saying that he would give us that option. I'm looking forward to doing some ASL scenario conversions myself now!

At least in SASL it depends on their Morale. IIRC, leaders are In-Command if they roll < or = their Morale+1. German Infantry need to roll < or = to their Morale. If the first 2 leaders roll high and the infantry squads low it would happen. Probably low odds but certainly possible.
