I hope that the Japanese will get more victory points for causing casualties than the US will get for Japanese casualties. Currently in UV it’s a 1-to-1 ratio. Since the US placed much more value on human life than the Japanese did, the US should be hurt more when its soldiers come home in bodybags. (Did they even have bodybags back then?). I remember in PacWar there was a victory point multiplier that was applied to all ground losses that had been accumulated since the beginning of the war sometime around 1944.

Basically there should be some way for the Japanese to win on points if they hold out long enough and inflict enough casualties. Using the current 1-to-1 system and applying it to real life would show that the US won an outstanding victory in the Vietnam War. :rolleyes:

The US buried men where they were killed in WW II. Hence all of the overseas cemetaries.

I agree though, the 1 to 1 ration should be changed.

In UV, land casualties cost the Allies twice the points that it costs the Japanese, although aircraft and ship losses are 1 for 1. We haven't settled on any particular VP ratios or victory conditions in WitP, but you can bet it will borrow heavily from both UV and Pac War.

Good to hear that. Hey, maybe we should count them by the pound. US soldiers probably weighed more than Japanese soldiers (not counting any sumo contenders).

Well, if you do that then you must factor in some kind of modifier for what's left of the body after impact of said ballistics...<barf>

Also, try not to repeat the mistake of Pacific War, where the docs quoted 1 VP for every 10 civilians killed, thus strongly encouraging the players to cause civilian casualties. (The actual number is 1 VP for every 100 civilians killed.)

Hi, I scored loads of points bombing Civilians in PW (I used to kill 5-10k per turn=50-100 points per turn

How many VPs do you get if you kill them all?

That's crass, that's crude, that's unblievably insensitive--Hmm, there were roughly 75 million people in Japan during WWII. Assume 70 million of them were civilians, and you get about 700,000 Victory Points.

Lighten up, Frances. This was quite obviously a joke. Possibly in poor taste to some, but still it was humor. And, given the national sentiments over Pearl Harbor, maybe realistic.

Let's see...70,000,000 people, divided by about 5,000 per bombing raid. That's 14,000 bombing raids, I dont think I could pull that off.

Then again, it's only 700 atomic bombs.
