Soldiers on the Western Front! We have great news!

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West – one of the most detailed and immersive wargames which simulates World War II in Europe and in the Mediterranean – has just received a huge update, with tons of improvements and changes!

Amongst these, all regiment-sized units can now attach a support unit, the air naval interdiction system has been enhanced along with the air game and the interface (including zooming around the mouse cursor)!

Getting problem with Norton for patch update.
I have never had this problem with any other Matrix product update including this game. Anything strange going on with patch/update? or as my gut says just run with it.

FWIW the patch ran fine for me using Avast.

Curious. Just bought the game this week, and the version is 1.00.00. Why did I not receive the updated version? Are there other patches I need to get before this?

as when a game comes out, most of the time it's called a gold master version / edition, so any update after that needs to be added to it, it's almost the same model that every company uses since floppies and CD/'S and DVD's have been out, sorry

Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)

Thanks very much. I'm a total noob at this computer stuff, but I've been playing wargames (Avalon Hill, SST, etc) for nearly 50 years. Thanks for your patience. I just assumed that since I bought a down loaded version, that it would be the latest and greatest. Thanks for setting me straight.

I'm reinstalling game...after WitW I tried to reinstall Torch..doesn't work.
What are the install steps again?I don't have time to look through the forum as I am a busy man

The best way I found was to install WiTW and then right after install Torch. Don't bother upgrading patches after you install WiTW, it will screw up the install of Torch.

After Torch is installed I then used the auto-patcher to make sure my games had the latest version.

Thanks..I tried that and got pop up saying I can't install Torch until I patch WitW

Keep getting message when I launch game "failed to extract project file to memory"

Youneed to have two downloads on hand:
Latest WitW update file
Torch installation file

Patch WitW to latest version, install Torch, re-apply latest patch
If error persists try latest public Beta

I am able to launch game from files now,unable to launch with desktop icon.

Have you tried the latest public Beta? AFAIR it fixed the issue with the game launcher after Matrixgames was able to identify the cause.

which is the latest version of the game? 1.01.37 beta or 1.01.20? Thanks

1.01.20 is considered latest official version. 1.01.37 is the latest public beta. Obviously .37 has newer code, but it is less tested so not official

Matrix is planning on making the 1.01.37 official within the next few weeks, so we suggest you move to that version. Once the .37 becomes official, they'll be a new public beta released.
