Anyone Interested in Creating a Modern Warfare Mod

Would anyone be interested in putting together a team of modders to create a modern warfare random game? I can do most all of the graphics and my share of the "leg work" on imputing stuff into the editor, however, I'm not at all familiar with how to program events. I have some ideas to bat around with others on how to set up the game.
One idea I have is to use the custom model designer to alter various base vehicle chassis to create different models with radically different combat capabilities.
Another idea is to incorporate a scale of 1 rifle subformation = 1 squad of infantry. 1 vehicle = 1 vehicle. Production capacity and resource rates would be adjusted to accommodate the smaller scale and individual units would probably typically comprise battalions to brigades in size.
The chart below represents my first attempt at listing all the different unit types and defining some of their basic characteristics, including whether or not they would be "air droppable" (= transportable by helicopter). Yellow highlight indicates unit that could be altered using the model designer. Some acronyms:
UH = utility helicopter (L=light, M=medium, H=Heavy)
UV = Utility vehicle
AC = armored car
etc.

Here are some graphics I've done so far.

Graphics for a jeep-type subformation, including base, recon, anti-tank and anti-aircraft versions.

Here is a compilation of all the modern warfare vehicles I have so far. They are in the standard size for Subformations used in the game (192 x 144 pixels). Anyone is welcome to use them in their own mods.

I added a few more vehicles (some APC variations) and the zip file is too large to feature here on the Matrix forums so I have placed the file with subformation graphics on my google website for anyone interested in downloading the graphics to use at their own leisure. You can find the new graphics here:

Here is a preview of all the subformation graphics in the file:

This is an interesting project, and I would like to encourage you to go on. I however have not messed with the model builder, so I don't know left from right. Sorry, so I cannot help.

Many thanks, ernieschwitz! I know next to nothing about programming events but I'll give it a shot. If it's just me working on it I may have to aim for something simpler like a scenario instead of a random game generation file. But we'll see.

I have been making some headway understanding things, but I have been stymied. The event part, I mostly understand. But, the SFTs themselves have me flummoxed. For example, as I said, I could not get tank models to work when I added just light tank types. Incrementally introducing models didn't work. But, when I included them all it did. I didn't try each one as new models, but I did try adding light tanks and medium tanks, and got the subscript out of bounds error. But, with all them, it does seem to work. I was able to modify the events for their creation as well. Then I tried to add models for fighters, and now I can no longer create a light tank. I get the subscript out of bounds error and CTD. Adding the new model disabled the models that worked before and were unchanged! So, either I have it all wrong, or their is bug somewhere inside.

If I was to create such a mod, I would use custom units. I would also use operational scale (20km and 3 day turns) and auto research.

Thanks. 20km and 3 days sound like good ideas. What is "auto research" and how do I set it up in the editor? Is there a toggle for it or something?

If you make any progress on getting models to work, I would appreciate hearing about it. In principle, it seems easy enough, but I have not been able to do so in a consistent way. Basically, getting stuck with an error at the model creation phase. So, I am on the verge of abandoning it.

"Auto research" is Bomburs way of saying that it should be fixed, and not up to the player to determine what should be researched. In other words scripted research.

Great idea and I love the artwork Gary. I am still trying to learn how to use the editor.

If it involves using the event editor then I'm pretty much screwed.

Well in that case you are pretty much screwed
But never the less, you should try and learn the event editor. Start out with something simple, see how others have done something, copy and reuse, until you are more experienced, and understand stuff...

More files for posterity. If anyone wants to use them, these are the modern warfare unit graphics featured above, no backgrounds:
First file is all the armored vehicles.
